Story

More Than Childcare

Every child deserves more than a safe place to spend the day. Every child deserves a place to grow, explore, discover, and belong.

Care Is Only the Beginning...

Choosing a childcare center is one of the first big decisions parents make about their child's future. It is where their child will spend countless hours during the most formative years of life. Those years matter enormously. Harvard University's Center on the Developing Child has shown that early experiences build the architecture of the developing brain, laying the foundation for later learning, behavior, and health (Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, n.d.). That is why a high-quality program offers far more than supervision. It offers relationships that help children feel secure, experiences that spark curiosity, and daily chances to communicate, cooperate, and grow. At GigaGlee Kids Center, we treat early childhood as a distinct stage of life that deserves professional expertise and real investment, not as the hours between drop-off and pickup.

Daycare is more than care. It is education, development, connection, and opportunity.

A Cornerstone of Our Community

A strong childcare center supports three groups at once:

For children

A first community outside the home, where they make friends, find their voice, and learn to take part in a group.

For Families

Dependable care makes it possible to work, study, and build a career with peace of mind.

For the community

It keeps parents in the workforce and gives the next generation a strong start.

The Connecticut Office of Early Childhood emphasizes that children learn best when families, communities, and early learning programs work together (Connecticut Office of Early Childhood [OEC], 2025).

We take that partnership seriously. Supporting a child means supporting the whole family, through open communication, mutual trust, and genuine respect for every family's culture.

A childcare center does not stand apart from its community. It is part of the foundation the community is built on.

THE GIGAMETHOD

Our Four Promises to Your Family:

1 Joy Is Part of Learning

Play isn't a break from learning, play is how young children learn.

We believe children learn best when they are curious, engaged, and genuinely joyful.

2 Every Child Is Seen

Our educators pay attention to each child's individual needs, interests, emotions, rhythms, and ways of communicating.

We don't simply watch children. We know them.

3 Learning With Purpose

Our learning experiences are thoughtfully connected to the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, supporting children's growth. We don't believe learning should feel like a checklist. We believe it should feel like childhood. And twice a year, we sit down with you and share what we've been seeing.

4 Family Is Part
of the Journey

We believe children thrive when families and educators walk together. Your child's language, culture, traditions, interests, and family stories have a place here.

Our doors are open to your questions, your ideas, your celebrations, and your voice.

Safety First

Why Connecticut's OEC Standards Matter

Children cannot learn until they feel safe. Every meaningful experience in early childhood rests on that foundation.

In Connecticut, the OEC licenses childcare programs and sets the regulations that protect children's health, safety, and welfare. Updated center regulations took effect in October 2024 (OEC, 2024). They cover:

Staff qualifications and background checks

Supervision and staff-to-child ratios

Health and hygiene

Emergency preparedness

The physical environment

Required records and documentation

The OEC enforces these rules through inspections, ongoing compliance monitoring, and investigations whenever concerns arise (OEC, 2026).

It would be easy to see these standards as paperwork. We see them as promises to the families who trust us. At GigaGlee, meeting OEC requirements is both a legal obligation and a professional commitment, and it shows up in daily habits: attentive supervision, consistent handwashing, safe and well-kept spaces, well-trained staff, and practiced emergency drills.

Together, these habits build a culture of prevention. Educational excellence is impossible without it.

Safety is not a policy on paper. It is a practice we prove every day!

Learning With Purpose

What separates basic childcare from high-quality early education is intention: experiences are planned to help children grow.

In Connecticut, that planning is guided by the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), a framework describing how children learn and develop from birth through age five. The updated 2025 standards span eight interconnected domains:

The domains reflect a simple truth: development is holistic, and children learn in many areas at once (OEC, 2025). The standards help educators design meaningful experiences, observe each child's progress, recognize individual strengths, and support the next step.

At GigaGlee, the CT ELDS guide our intentional teaching.

Consider two moments:

Playing outdoors

Children build coordination, cooperate with friends, wonder about bugs and leaves, and solve problems as they arise.

Cooking together

Children measure ingredients (mathematics), talk through each step (language), stir and pour (fine motor skills), and watch batter turn into bread (science).

Neither looks like a traditional lesson. Both are rich with learning

Standards give purpose to play without taking away the joy of childhood!

Our mission starts with a belief: children are capable, curious, and creative, and they are active participants in their own learning.

Each of our four classrooms is designed for a distinct stage of development, with its own physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs.

Across every room, our approach rests on five pillars: meaningful relationships, exploration, intentional teaching, family engagement, and safe learning environments. Sensory play, cooking, creative arts, outdoor discovery, movement, and themed investigations connect everyday experiences to real developmental growth.

Planning begins with observation. The CT ELDS show the general path of development, and our educators combine that framework with what they see in each child to plan experiences that fit that child's interests and needs (OEC, 2025).

An early childhood educator does far more than supervise. Our educators observe, listen, guide, document, reflect, and create opportunities for children to build knowledge.

Our commitment is an environment where safety and learning work together, where children's voices matter, and where families are respected as essential partners.

Play Is
How Young Children Learn

Play is not a break from learning. For young children, it is one of the main ways learning happens.

Through play, children build relationships, expand their language, test ideas, make decisions, and figure out how the world works.

Adults matter in that process. Research highlights the power of serve and return: when a child babbles, points, or asks, and an adult responds with attention and words, those back-and-forth exchanges strengthen the brain connections that support development (Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, 2017).

GigaGlee (22).HEIC

Our educators are trained to see the learning inside everyday play:

  • A child building with blocks is exploring balance, space, early math, and problemsolving.

  • A toddler at the sensory table is developing curiosity, coordination, and an understanding of materials.

  • A preschooler in dramatic play is practicing communication, creativity, collaboration, and empathy.

The educator's role is to observe, follow children's interests, ask open-ended questions, and offer the next challenge. That is what turns ordinary moments into intentional learning!

An Investment in the Future

The first years of life bring rapid neurological, emotional, physical, and social growth. Because these early experiences shape the brain's foundation for later learning, behavior, and health (Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, n.d.), what happens in a child's first classroom echoes for years.

Quality early education is therefore not just a service families use today. It is an investment in children's future schooling and well-being.

When a community supports high-quality childcare, it supports working families, early childhood professionals, and the next generation all at once.

WE'LL BE OPEN ON SATURDAYS SOON!

We Know Family Life Doesn't Always Follow a Monday–Friday Schedule. For families whose work schedules look different, we want to create a place where children can still experience consistency, connection, and joyful learning.

GigaGlee will be open on Saturdays soon, with the same teachers, the same ratios, and the same care as any weekday.

GigaTestemonials
“We love Giga glee kids center so much! We joined when we moved to Southbury earlier this year and we feel so lucky to have found this center. It is like a second home for our 2 year old. The staff members are incredible, and they do so much every single day to go above and beyond. We especially appreciate their thoroughness, their communication, and the way they make every single day so fun for all the kids."

WHAT OUR FAMILIES SAY

We are not just caring for children today. We are helping build the foundation for who they will become tomorrow!

A Foundation for Life

Quality early childhood education rests on three commitments: safety, intentional education, and meaningful relationships.

Together, they define childcare that reaches far beyond supervision. Our responsibility is not only to keep children safe through the day. It is to honor their childhood, nurture their development, encourage their curiosity, and help them thrive. At GigaGlee, every smile, discovery, friendship, and new accomplishment matters.
